Technical documentation on paintings from Cologne and Prague published online

This week the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum & Fondation Corboud in Cologne and the National Gallery in Prague presented research data on their Rembrandt paintings in the Rembrandt Database, providing researchers online access to circa 50 technical documents on 4 paintings.
As a result of our collaboration with the The Wallraf-Richartz-Museum and the National Gallery, up-to-date art historical information and technical documentation on the paintings A scholar in his study, Self Portrait as Zeuxis, A scholar at his desk and Christ at the column have been made accessible on the Rembrandt Database website. Aside from documents held at the museums, an X-radiograph from the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, and sample documentation from the Cultural Heritage Agency (RCE) in Amsterdam/Amersfoort were also made available online.
This joint online publication of research data on paintings from the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum and the National Gallery marks their collaboration on an exhibition which will be held in 2019-2020, paying homage to Rembrandt 350 years after his death. The two enigmatic portraits by Rembrandt from both collections, A Scholar in his Study and the mysterious Self Portrait as Zeuxis, will play the leading role in this exhibition, that will explore the state of the mind and inner drama of the humans which Rembrandt so sublimely depicted.
