Research data on 4 paintings from the Städel Museum online as of now

25 June 2018

As of today research data on the Rembrandt paintings in the Städel Museum in Frankfurt is available on The Rembrandt Database. The Städel Museum was so generous to share their documentation, including infrared reflectography photographs of Rembrandt’s The blinding of Samson made in 2002.

Aside from documents held at the Städel Museum, X-radiographs from the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the Alan Burroughs Collection of X-Radiographs of the Straus Center for Conservation and Technical Studies (Harvard Art Museums) in Cambridge MA and the archive of the Rembrandt Research Project held at the RKD – Netherlands Institute for Art History of the Frankfurt Rembrandt’s were also made available online.

Many thanks to the assistant curators Dr. Fabian Wolf and Erik Eising who have provided the database with the data and have been working on the presentation in close collaboration with the RKD.
