Four paintings from Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden – Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister online as of now

Documents from four Rembrandt paintings from Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden – Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister have been online since August 26th. Visitors of The Rembrandt Database can now view the comprehensive art historical information and technical documentation of the paintings “Bust of a young woman smiling possibly Saskia van Uylenburgh”, “Saskia van Uylenburgh as Flora”, The rape of Ganymede” and “Self portrait as the prodigal son”. Especially about “The rape of Ganymede” a wealth of documentation is available on The Rembrandt Database. From 2003 until 2005 “The rape of Ganymede” was restored and studied with normal light, infrared, raking light, X-radiography and sample analyses was carried out in collaboration with the Doerner Institut in Munich.

Marina Langner and Christoph Schölzel (conservators Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister Dresden) have generously provided the database with the technical documents and data.
