New addition to the Rembrandt Database: Rembrandts “Deyman”

28 August 2014

The latest addition to the Rembrandt Database: the severely damaged fragment of Rembrandts “Anatomy lesson of doctor Joan Deyman” from the Amsterdam Museum.

This famous painting has been treated many times in the past. The Rembrandt Database holds documents of almost all these treatments. Especially the restoration of 1990-1994 is very rich in technical documentation. Many of the documents were made available by the Rijksmuseum who held the painting until 1994.

For this launch the RKD worked in collaboration with Judith van Gent, Team manager documentation and Norbert Middelkoop, curator of paintings, prints and drawings both at the Amsterdam Museum and the department Collection Information of the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam.
