Online as of now: Karlsruhe’s Self Portrait

9 January 2017

As of today technical documentation and art-historical information of the ‘Self Portrait with beret and red cloak’ from the Staatliche Kunsthalle in Karlsruhe are available on The Rembrandt Database. The Staatliche Kunsthalle was so generous to share their documentation, including an ultraviolet photograph of 1998 and an examination report by Dr. Hermann Kühn.

Many thanks to Dr. Holger Jacob-Friesen (chief curator) and Annette Fischer (department of reproductions) from the Staatliche Kunsthalle in Karlsruhe, who provided us with the technical information and documentation.

Aside from the documentation which we received from the Staatliche Kunsthalle, documentation from other institutions on this painting was also added to the database. Such as an X-ray from 1956 held at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
