Nuremberg’s Rembrandt paintings added to the database

17 December 2019

As of today, research data on the two Rembrandt paintings of The Germanisches Nationalmuseum in Nuremberg, among which the Self Portrait with Gorget, are accessible online.

The Germanisches Nationalmuseum has shared research data with the scholarly community on two of its paintings online. It concerns high resolution photographs of both the Self Portrait with Gorget and The apostle Paul at his writing desk as well as documents generated during X-radiography, IRR and dendrochronological analysis. In addition to the data received from the Germanisches Nationalmuseum, research data from Dr. Peter Klein and the archive of the Rembrandt Research Project, was also added to the database.

We would like to thank Dr. Daniel Hess (Generaldirektor) for providing us with the research data and for working in close collaboration with the RKD on the online presentation.
